Originally intended to be merely a reskin of the 1967 Library, the Stanley Milner Library Revitalization quickly grew to encompass nearly the entire building as the scope of work was better understood. The execution of this design was no small task, but provided significant cost benefit over a full demolition and rebuild estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars. The design and construction teams relied heavily on BIM to collaborate on clash detection, systems design, coordination, and ultimately execution of the design intent. The result of thousands of hours by hundreds of skilled Architects, Engineers, Technologists, Designers, and Tradespeople the finished building provides a multitude of services to the community ranging from underground conditioned parking, to LRT access, to computer and culinary services, not just book rentals. During this tour we will discuss some of the challenges to the design and construction teams, solutions implemented, and how the building functions to meet the intent of the Owner and Designers.
