About the Opportunity

Our growing Fort McMurray office is looking to add a passionate Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to our team. We work on innovative projects that create meaningful and lasting change in the communities where we live, work, and play, including our very own backyard here in Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo and across Treaty 8.

Our local team is supported by colleagues, resources, and expertise available across the company, from Victoria to Winnipeg. Assisting in the planning, design, and delivery of a variety of projects, you will have as much freedom and responsibility as you demonstrate you are able to handle. Coupled with the unmatched learning and project experience opportunities, some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Hone your civil engineering skills and develop an understanding of technical best practices in real world applications
  • Apply theory and provide workable solutions related to the design and implementation of municipal infrastructure
  • Act as the clients' representative on-site during construction to gather information, conduct inspections and ensure designs are built to specifications
  • Build and grow relationships with existing project leaders and clients; proactively and professionally communicate with contractors, co-workers, clients, and the general public
  • Provide accurate and timely input on technical reports, plans, studies, proposals, and oral presentations as required

Qualifications:

About You

This opportunity is well suited for graduates from a civil or environmental engineering degree program who are eligible for registration with APEGA. Summer jobs, co-op work experience, or a few years in the industry are all considered assets. In addition, the following attributes would be considered a benefit to this role:

  • A keen interest in pursuing a career in civil or environmental engineering and working with local municipalities, Indigenous communities, and land developers across Alberta
  • Effective communication skills (technical, written and verbal), and you enjoy collaborating with others
  • Ability to be engaged on multiple projects, prioritize work and meet timelines, and generally thrive in a self-directed work environment
  • Driven with a desire to take initiative, a problem solver that continually delivers consistent, high-quality work
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Hold a valid class 5 drivers’ license
