Description:

Our Edmonton office is looking to add a passionate, experienced Water/Wastewater Engineer to our team to deliver great service to our Municipal and Indigenous clients across Central and Northern Alberta. As a Water/Wastewater Engineer, you must be currently registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer with APEGA or an equivalent provincial or territorial association.

Coupled with the diverse learning and project experience opportunities, do you see yourself excited to contribute to:

  • Engineering design of municipal utility facilities, including lift stations, pumping stations, reservoirs, and pipelines for all clients by working on all technical aspects of projects.
  • Providing technical leadership and oversight on water and wastewater engineering projects for First Nations and Local Governments in Alberta.
  • Preparing presentations, project progress reports, and other documents to support the project delivery process and communicate with clients.
  • Managing budgets, schedules, and client communications.
  • Leading project teams by focusing on strong relationships and prioritizing the well-being and growth of the contributing members (including clients) through the lifecycle of the project.
  • Leading feasibility, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs for water/wastewater projects.
  • Acting as the professional of record for projects involving design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and tender documents.
  • Developing strong relationships internally to understand our service offerings and the different practice areas, as well as to effectively work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects for our clients.
  • Providing mentorship to our team of young professionals.

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate is a Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineer with 5 to 8 years of direct industry work experience within a water/wastewater setting and is currently registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA or equivalent provincial or territorial association. The core skills that will help you succeed here include:

  • You bring valuable design and construction experience in water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • You have a keen interest in working with and learning more about Indigenous communities as well as local government.
  • You have a strong understanding of design guidelines, contract documents, and contract administration.
  • You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and are able to listen, clarify, and engage others effectively.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • You seek out opportunities to collaborate with people of varying backgrounds and perspectives.
  • You possess a strong attention to detail and the ability to continually deliver high-quality work.
  • You can work on multiple projects at a time, managing your time and priorities, and thrive in a self-directed work environment.
  • You have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Understanding of AutoCAD and civil design software, including Civil 3D, 3D Plant, and hydraulic modelling tools, including WaterCAD and PCSWMM, is considered an asset.
