The Consulting Engineers of Alberta is requesting letters outlining expressions of interest for a part time leadership role with the Association. CEA is a registered organization currently representing nearly 80 Alberta engineering firms. These firms employ over 9,000 individuals including professional engineers, technologists and support staff.
CEA’s role is to promote and enhance the business interests and opportunities of CEA member firms.
The CEO reports to and works with the Board of Directors. The CEO is primarily responsible for executing CEA’s strategic initiatives and advocating on CEA’s behalf.
- Enhance the image, profile and effectiveness of CEA and its member firms.
- Build and nurture relationships with client groups, government, media, and allied industries and associates to promote the interests of CEA member firms.
- Lobby and interact with the Ministers and senior department personnel of the provincial and federal governments.
- Represent the Association at provincial/partner meetings as required.
- Assume leadership of a highly effective plan for internal and external communications.
- Attract and recruit new member firms and affinity partners.
- Interact and communicate with member firms; on-site visits; deal with member issues when Industry specific. Focused on member retention.
- Lead Board initiatives as required, attending all board meetings and annual retreat.
- Research, monitor and advise the Board of Directors on legislative and other initiatives affecting the consulting engineering sector.
- Maintain a clear understanding and record of legislation and statutes governing the operation and administration of the association.
- Liaise with the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies–Canada, and with other provincial Member Organizations.
- Attend CEA events as required, various external functions and represent the CEA across the province.
The CEA’s administrative team is led and managed by the Chief Operating Officer, with two full time staff. As well, the COO is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Association.
The Association office is located in Edmonton, with this being a hybrid role. The individual in the role is required to hold a P. Eng. designation.
